Himegimi To Sanbiki No Kemono

This manga has a strange concept combination by intertwining the worlds of royalty and robbers, but I guess other manga with this combination are out there too. But I guess you can think of Disney
movies, especially Tangled when you see what the plot is about. Himegimi To Sanbiki No Kemono (The Princess and Three Wild Beasts) is based in the Alba Forest Kingdom and follows soon to be 16 year old Princess Violet who, after the death of her King Father, is locked up in her room by her Queen Mother. Fed up of living like this, Violet dreams of being able to be free like a bird and see the world just as her father did, and gets the opportunity to do so when she meets the notorious Three Beasts bandits. This trio consists of a pro lock-pick, a man with many faces (like the guy from Game of Thrones), and someone with great leaping strength, otherwise known as Snake, Fox and Crow. They manage to infiltrate the castle twice and, upon meeting the Princess again, Crow is attacked by the guards. He is injured and almost falls out the window before Violet grabs onto him, but the two fall out of the window, and Crow escapes with her. Cue Princess Violet's adventure of being free.

Of course with the unexpected but predictable meeting with the Three Beasts after a warning was given by them to the Queen, you'll come to know of their history and whatnot, along with why Violet is so adamant on wanting to go see the world. She does have a strong character, much like the Princess in Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen, which is a good thing as she's not the helpless type despite being locked up in the castle all her life. This is a nice break from the action as you get to know more about why the bandits are who they are and their reason to steal treasures, along with Violet's view of this and of the world.

As the story progresses, you are reminded of the Three Beasts' reputation by other people who are wanting to steal etc. But this shouldn't really be a problem as the gap between the reminders are fairly reasonable, so you won't feel as though the reminder is constant. Add this to the fact that you are reminded of Violet's reason to leave the castle and travel with them, which is probably slightly more frequent than theirs. Again, it shouldn't be a problem as these don't drag as much now: like 2 scenes'/frames' worth on a page per chapter?

Himegimi To Sanbiki no Kemono is a nice story about how a Princess ventures out of the Kingdom to see the world with a trio of famous bandits, filled with many adventures as the bandits continue to steal treasures whilst the Princess learns more about the world. There's an adorable romance between her and one of the bandits, who are full of character with their contrasting but lovable personalities, For a manga that's only 12 chapters long, you'll be sad to see the end of it.
