Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma (Season 1 Revisited)

Greatest Anime cook-off ever

My first review did not do the anime justice, and with Season 2 completed a while back, I decided to watch Season 1 again. And it's just as good as the first time I watched it.

Yukihira Soma is the star of Food Wars and a talented young chef who wishes to surpass his father's cooking skills someday. He helps out at the family diner until one day his father decides to jet off somewhere, and enrolling Soma in Totsuki, an elite culinary high school with a 1% pass rate (well something as low as that). So only the creme de la creme can graduate at a school with such a low pass rate, and at his induction ceremony, Soma declares he will become the Number 1 student at Totsuki.

RWBY

One long (but epic) cutscene cut into bite size chunks

Okay so this may not be seen as an anime because it's created by RoosterTeeth, but it's on Crunchyroll. Not a strong argument, but I'm reviewing it anyway but won't (for balance) list it in the anime category.

I don't know what made me want to watch RWBY. and I started it not thinking it much about it. I heard of the name and kept calling it R W B Y, but it's pronounced ruby. You find out about this like a few episodes in and makes a lot of sense when you find out the name's origin. Anyway, going into this without thinking of what to expect was a good idea (I do this with quite a lot of anime), and I really enjoyed it.

Crayon Days

Love can come from anywhere

It's been a while since my last post, but I haven't just been studying away; I've been catching up on some anime and starting new ones before I get round to reviewing them, but I will try to get more content up quicker for my beloved readers ^^

Here we have Crayon Days. It's a lovely short and sweet story featuring two people who get closer through their love for art. It's different because I've never come across a manga that features a different kind of school since it's normally been a standard school or a boarding school, but this is a unique angle for a romance manga.

Our MCs of the story are Ichinose Shima and Akatuski Saji. Shima is a new student at the Tokyo Art School, which is a big change and step for her since she's a country girl who wants to prove she can be good at art. As for Saji, he's a famous student known for his impressive art skills. The two have contrasting personalities and artistic abilities; Shima is more child-like and naive which is portrayed through her drawings which seem to lack that depth and emotion people see in art, whereas Saji is the quiet type who's a perfectionist and shows that depth and emotion in his work.
